#042 The Mental Health Journey of a Special Forces Sergeant (with Jason Fox)
Jason Fox is a former Royal Marine Commando and Special Forces Sergeant.
Joining at 16 and serving for 20 years, Jason passed the gruelling selection process for the Special Forces, serving with the Special Boat Service. Jason has planned and led operations including hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, maritime counter-terrorism, surveillance, bodyguarding and counter-narcotics missions.
Jason Fox is widely known to us after being right there from the start on SAS: Who Dares Wins putting members of the public and celebrities through the notorious selection process to make it in the SAS.
As we go, we unpick Jason's experiences and his story but we revolve around some pretty deep questions, about vulnerability and mental health and the journey of his mental health alongside the incredible achievements and status that he has achieved. We talk about PTSD and what that felt like and also the attitude towards mental health. Hear how that has changed for him and how he believes it will adapt going forward in the special forces and military.
